The ANATOMY
of a Landscape Installation

Step-by-Step Process

The Cook residence in NW Corvallis features a beautiful yard and outdoor living area constructed in 2006. The photos illustrate the "anatomy" of the project, the Design and Installation process from beginning to end. Here you can see what goes into creating a beautiful and long-lasting outdoor living area.

The Beginning

Meeting with clients leads to understanding their landscaping goals.  Site features are studied and assets and challenges identified.  Blending these elements artistically, with an eye on the practical concerns of function, site engineering and budget, leads to plan drawings that will direct all improvements that follow.
Once a plan is approved, we are ready to build. Preliminary Grading sets the stage, and the Landscape Plan is laid out in full scale. It is exciting to watch this phase as the property transforms to something new.

Making the Vision a Reality

Now we build the foundation that will support all the improvements. Retaining walls level and stabilize the ground; trenches are dug, and Drainage, Irrigation and Lighting lines are run. After refilling and compacting the trenches, base for Patios and Walkways are laid. All surfaces slope towards drains as needed to handle run-off. Soil Preparation sustains all the living plants that will adorn the yard. This is not a time to skimp!

Finishing Touches

Next we cover up all this hard work with the final treatments: Flowers and lawns are planted, mulch spread, lighting and roofing installed, sprinklers are tuned, decorative stonewalls and outdoor furniture are applied - all to create a beautiful and very livable outdoor area.
Now the yard connects to the house, and takes advantage of distant views and a natural setting. Easy access and eye-catching details entice the owners into their new living area, which even sports a gas fire ring.

On-going Maintenance

Maintaining this new living area is easy with the preinstalled irrigation system and durable materials used in the creation of this outdoor living area. In addition, the Cooks will take advantage of Peterson Landscape's monthly maintenance service to preserve and enhance the value of their property.
